Woman

Daily Post’s Weekly Discovery Challenge is “Superpower” and it may not be the truth technically but I bet many will agree with me that being a woman in itself is like a superpower.

So, here’s to us, womenfolk ๐Ÿ™‚

I originally posted this in December 2015 although the poem was written many years before then and had been shared with friends and colleagues.

It’s a long poem so please go to the original. Here are the first lines:

Woman, you are a beautiful being!
You are an incredible creation
An awesome manifestation of the Almightyโ€™s power
You have been created as proof of Godโ€™s love to humankind
Why, then, do you see yourself as someone unworthy of all that you deserve?

Did you not know that you are the daughter of a Queen?
Stop and think before you once again
Allow yourself to be treated like a slave

I think, I say, I do

Woman, you are a beautiful being!
You are an incredible creation
An awesome manifestation of the Almightyโ€™s power
You have been created as proof of Godโ€™s love to humankind
Why, then, do you see yourself as someone unworthy of all that you deserve?

Did you not know that you are the daughter of a Queen?
Stop and think before you once again
Allow yourself to be treated like a slave
You are of royal blood, therefore act like one
I hear you let yourself give in
To one who treats you as though you have no brains
One who keeps you silent when you should speak
Tell me woman, did you forget how powerful your mind is?
Let your voice be heard
Make it known that you are aware of your choices
Do not let anyone else decide what is good for you
You have the power to say, โ€˜No!โ€™
