On Saturday, I, uncharacteristically, woke up early despite having gone to bed only at about 03:30am. It is true what has been said about doing what we love: doing what we love isn’t work. (This isn’t exactly the same but it’s a similar sentiment.)
My usual self avoids the unfamiliar, situations and places, especially if scheduled for early in the day. However, I was a better version of me early on this Saturday morning: I was on time for All About Writing‘s writing workshop held in Saxonwold, organized by Jozi Wrimo. For anything else, I would have asked why it wasn’t in Fourways and found an excuse not to go.
I am definitely happy that I went to the workshop. I met some wonderful Joburg writers braving this year’s NaNoWriMo and I learned quite a lot from Jo-Anne Richards and Richard Beynon. I’m sure to take their writing course early next year.
Icing on the cake was that I was one of the two winners to take home this book, ‘The Eleventh Month’, an anthology of short stories written one weekend in November 2016. Hurray! Ain’t I lucky!
It would have been fun to have all that interaction with fellow writers!

Totally! But I don’t know if it’s going to be as much fun as meeting you both when I finally make it to Singapore! 🙂 A good friend of mine has been traveling there for work (Dimension Data) and she forgot me when she wanted to find someone to go with her on her last trip. Sadly, the project seems to have reached that stage where she doesn’t need to go there anymore. If that changes, and she remembers me… that’s gonna be awesome! 🙂

I did. 😊 Although I felt like a bit of a fraud… Then again, I felt the same being at the finance conference the two days before… Sigh! I need to improve so I can be a little proud of me… at least.

Each time I feel like a fraud being somewhere, I just remember that Neil Gaiman also feels like that and it makes me feel a lot better 🙂

I’m getting used to the visits and I say hello and keep on… I’m bound to get real eventually. 😂 Thanks so much, Ronel. 🤗

Thank you, Theresa. 🙂 One day, it will be the lottery or the casino. Haha! Much love and hugs.
P.S. So sorry for this super delayed response. 100 Day Book started to take up a lot of time and I got a bit lost. With NaNo, it’s even worse but I am taking a break. 🙂
